1 How is the quotation for surgery prepared at KEIT Day Hospital?

The process at KEIT Day Hospital begins with a medical consultation, which can take place at the clinic or online. During the consultation, the doctor reviews the patient's medical information, assesses their requests and discusses the procedure that may be most appropriate for their individual case.

Based on the consultation and medical questionnaire, a personalised quotation is prepared, outlining the planned services and their respective costs. The document is issued in writing, bears the official stamp of KEIT Day Hospital and remains valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

The initial quotation may be confirmed or updated following the preoperative assessment, when the surgeon examines the patient's clinical condition in greater detail and determines the final surgical plan. If this assessment identifies the need for changes, the patient is informed before proceeding with the procedure. In this way, the quotation reflects the specific surgery and services planned for the patient, rather than simply providing a general price.

2 What is included in the cost of surgery, and what is charged separately?

The quotation provided by KEIT Day Hospital itemises the medical services and their costs, both for offers that include a package and those without one. Its contents are determined according to the type of procedure and the patient's clinical needs.

Depending on the procedure, the quotation may include:

  • Medical consultations and assessments: Appointments with the surgeon, the anaesthesiology consultation and the examinations required for the preoperative assessment.

  • Laboratory tests and diagnostic examinations: Laboratory tests, a nasal CT scan when indicated for nasal surgery, Doppler ultrasound or ultrasound examinations for breast and abdominal procedures, according to medical necessity.

  • The surgical procedure: The planned operation, performed by the responsible surgeon and medical team.

  • Anaesthesia and anaesthetic care: Services related to the administration of anaesthesia and patient monitoring.

  • Care during the stay at the clinic: Clinical monitoring, nursing assistance and the services required throughout the patient's stay.

  • Medication and postoperative care: The medication package and scheduled follow-up appointments during the patient's stay in Tirana.

  • Postoperative follow-up: Follow-up appointments at the clinic or through video consultations, together with medical assistance in accordance with the procedure's protocol and guarantee conditions.

Patients may also benefit from dedicated coordination of the medical and organisational process, as well as postoperative assistance services specified in the relevant documentation.

The quotation also specifies which services are not included in the proposed price. If the medical assessment identifies a need for additional examinations, medication or treatments that were not initially planned, the patient is informed of the clinical necessity and potential costs so that these can be clarified and approved before the services are provided, whenever possible.

3 All-inclusive packages for international patients

For patients travelling from Italy, KEIT Day Hospital offers the option of including travel and accommodation services in a package organised alongside the surgical procedure.

Depending on the offer prepared, the all-inclusive package may include:

  • Travel tickets;

  • Airport transfers and transport services specified in the package;

  • Accommodation for the planned period, which may be eight days, at KEIT Hotel or in apartments arranged by the clinic;

  • Coordination of medical appointments and procedures;

  • Organisational assistance during the stay in Albania.

KEIT Hotel is approximately a 3–4-minute walk from the clinic, making it easier to attend scheduled consultations and follow-up appointments.

Patients may also choose a quotation without the all-inclusive package, arranging their travel and accommodation independently. In both cases, the quotation specifies the services included and their respective costs, allowing patients to compare the available options before making a reservation.

4 How does the deposit work, and what are the cancellation conditions?

Booking surgery at KEIT Day Hospital requires payment of a deposit, which confirms the scheduled date and allows the relevant services to be organised. The terms governing payment, postponement or cancellation of surgery are set out in a written agreement, ensuring that patients understand their obligations and rights in advance, including the circumstances in which the deposit may be refunded or retained for another date.

Deposit for booking surgery

To confirm the surgical booking, the patient pays a deposit equal to 30% of the total amount specified in the quotation. This amount is deducted from the total cost of surgery and does not constitute an additional charge. When paying the deposit, the patient signs the relevant agreement, which sets out the conditions for booking, postponing and cancelling the procedure.

The remaining balance is paid according to the agreed terms, after completion of the necessary preoperative procedures and before surgery takes place, unless another approved payment arrangement applies.

Postponement or cancellation of surgery

The deposit conditions vary depending on the reason for postponement or cancellation:

  • Postponement at the patient's request: The surgical date may be changed by notifying the clinic at least one month in advance. Under these conditions, the deposit already paid is retained for the new booking, in accordance with the agreement.

  • Cancellation for personal reasons: If the patient decides not to undergo surgery for personal reasons, the deposit is non-refundable, in accordance with the terms of the signed agreement.

  • Inability to undergo surgery for health reasons: If the medical staff, including the anaesthetist, determine that surgery cannot be performed for health reasons, the deposit is refunded to the patient in accordance with the agreement.

  • Cancellation by the clinic: If the clinic cancels the procedure and the booked service is not provided, payments already made are handled according to the relevant contractual terms.

  • Postponement for medical reasons: If the patient's health condition requires the procedure to be postponed, a new date may be scheduled following reassessment and confirmation of the patient's suitability for surgery.

The complete booking and deposit conditions are specified in the agreement that the patient receives and signs before confirming the procedure.

5 Instalment payments, bank transfer or card

KEIT Day Hospital offers different payment options, allowing patients to plan their expenses before surgery.

Two options are available for payments in instalments:

  • Partial payments directly to the clinic: Patients may pay amounts at different times before surgery until the agreed total has been paid in full. This option allows payments to be spread over time without deferring settlement of the surgical cost until after the operation.

  • Financing through partner financial institutions: Patients may explore the possibility of financing their surgery and repaying the amount in instalments after the operation. Approval, repayment periods, interest rates and other conditions depend on the financial institution and the relevant agreement.

The clinic accepts payments by bank transfer and card. These methods are recommended because of the traceability and security they provide.

6 What happens if the procedure or the quoted price changes?

The quotation is prepared based on the information available during the consultation and the proposed treatment plan. However, the preoperative assessment may identify clinical circumstances that require changes to the procedure or the inclusion of additional services.

If the planned procedure changes, the surgeon discusses the medical reasons and characteristics of the new procedure with the patient. When the change affects the cost, a new or updated quotation is prepared, specifying the services and their respective prices. Any planned change affecting the price is communicated to the patient and requires their approval before proceeding with the procedure.

7 Fiscal invoice: documentation of payments and use outside Albania

KEIT Day Hospital issues fiscal documentation for payments and services provided, in accordance with Albanian legislation. The fiscal invoice contains the relevant information about the service and the invoiced amount, serving as an official record of the transaction.

For patients travelling from outside Albania, the invoice may serve as supporting documentation for administrative or tax procedures, or for potential reimbursement claims in their home country. The invoice is issued in Albanian and, when required by foreign institutions, patients may need an official translation or notarisation, depending on the regulations of the country where the document will be submitted.

Reimbursement of cosmetic surgery expenses is not automatic and depends on the terms of the insurance policy, the nature of the procedure and the applicable legislation. Patients are therefore advised to verify the relevant conditions with their insurer or the competent institution in advance.
